Indianapolis, Ind. – Eastern Washington University women’s teams in the sports of basketball, cross country and golf have been honored by the NCAA with Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Awards for posting multi-year APR’s in the top 10 percent of their respective sports.
EWU’s women’s golf program was honored for the fourth straight season while the Eagles’ women’s basketball and women’s cross country teams were recognized for the third consecutive year, respectively.
Each year, the NCAA honors select Division I programs by publicly recognizing their latest multi-year NCAA Division I APR. Teams receiving public recognition awards posted multi-year APR’s in the top 10 percent of all programs in each sport.
The announcement is part of the overall NCAA Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APR’s within their respective sports.
The APR provides a real-time look at a program’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team’s academic performance.
