Cheney, Wash. – After a successful debut this past year, the Eastern Washington University Athletic Department is excited to announce the continuation of its Student-Athlete Social Media Ambassador Program into the 2015-16 athletic season, the department announced Friday, Aug. 28.

Football’s Cooper Kupp (@CooperKupp) is back for his second year as part of the program. He is joined by Men’s Basketball’s Felix Von Hofe (@FelixvonHofe44), Track & Field’s Paige Hammock (@paigehammock), Football’s Zach Wimberly (@zach4wimberly) and Volleyball’s Gabrielle Johnson (@Gabbymae2).

The five will now be official social media representatives of Eastern Athletics, and will have their Twitter handles added to the department’s social media directory as well as their sport biographies.

A consensus All-American his first two seasons at EWU, Kupp was tabbed as the Preseason Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year heading into the 2015 season. He already holds six FCS records and has averaged a TD reception for every 5.3 catches so far in his career.

A native of Yakima, Wash., Kupp is majoring in economics.

Von Hofe is entering his third season as part of the Eagles’ men’s basketball program in 2015-16. Named a team captain for the upcoming season, he averaged 5.1 points per game as a sophomore while shooting a stellar 41.2 percent from three-point range. He had 23 huge points, going 7-of-8 from downtown, in EWU’s semifinal win over Sacramento State at the 2015 Big Sky Tournament.

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Von Hofe is majoring in marketing.

Heading into her third season as part of Eastern’s track and field team, Hammock specializes in sprints and hurdles and is part of the Eagles’ sprint relay teams. She helped EWU to a third-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay at the 2015 Big Sky Track & Field Championships in Cheney, earning All-Big Sky honors as a result.

Hammock is from Maple Valley, Wash., and is majoring in marketing/communications.

A redshirt junior tight end, Wimberly is listed as a starter on the Eagles’ preseason depth chart heading into the 2015 season. He was an Honorable Mention All-Big Sky pick last year, finishing the season with 20 receptions for 267 yards and three scores. He also played as a fullback, and had a touchdown against Sam Houston State (8/23/14) on his first career rushing attempt.

A native of Tumwater, Wash., Wimberly is an interdisciplinary studies major.

This season is Johnson’s third as part of EWU’s volleyball program. The redshirt sophomore has played a key leadership role on the team since her arrival and has provided important depth at the outside hitter position. The redshirt sophomore’s older brothers, Matt and Zach, both played football at Eastern, with Matt going on to be drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

Also from Tumwater, Wash., Johnson is majoring in elementary education.
