Cheney, Wash. – Junior women’s cross country student-athlete Sarah Reiter and redshirt senior football student-athlete Aaron Neary have been selected by the Eastern Washington University Athletics Department as its November Scholar-Athletes of the Month, as announced Tuesday, Dec. 1.
A Renton, Wash., native, Reiter owns a 3.77 grade point average as a business management major. Neary hails from Richland, Wash., and sports a 3.13 GPA as a secondary education major with a focus in social studies and history.
Reiter had a November to remember, placing ninth at the NCAA West Regional Cross Country Championships in Seattle, Wash. Her time of 20:53.9 on the 6,000-meter course at Jefferson Golf Course earned her All-West Region honors and a spot in the NCAA Division I Championships marked the first time since 2007 that Eastern sent a female runner to compete for a national title.
Reiter went on to place 46th at the NCAA Championships, good for the second-best finish by an Eagle female in the program’s history.
Neary started every game for EWU Football this year, earning First Team All-Big Sky honors for the second consecutive season. He helped Eastern finish the year ranked eighth in FCS in total offense with an average of 478.5 yards per game, including the nation’s top passing offense (353.3 yards per game). The Eagles were also 20th in scoring offense (34.6 points per game).
