Cheney, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team kicks off its fall season hosting the EWU Classic over three days beginning tomorrow, Sept. 18. Matches begin at 12 p.m. PST tomorrow and commence at 9 a.m. PST on Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20.

At the tournament, Eastern will challenge other schools from around the region, including Gonzaga, University of Idaho, and Seattle University. During last season's tournament, the Eagles had two players reach the semi-finals in the singles brackets. In the flight A section, junior Robert Dula advanced past both Seattle and Gonzaga players before falling to the eventual champion of the event. In the flight B bracket, senior Luke Thompson advanced by means of victories over Seattle, and former teammate Stefan Farra.

Returning players for the team include Dula, following a season that earned First Team All-Big Sky honors, Thompson, senior Eduardo Bringold, junior Rendell Burghart, junior Luke Ness, junior Wacil Bendjelti, and sophomore Vuk Vuckovic. All of which are competing in the tournament this weekend. New players will also be making their debuts for Eastern, competing in both events. Victor Pereira, who is teaming with Dula in the doubles portion, and JJ Minakata, paired up with Burghart.
