Cheney, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's basketball team will look for its fifth straight win Thursday, Feb. 19, when Southern Utah visits Reese Court for a Big Sky Conference counter.
Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. PT.
Eastern (15-8, 8-4 BSC) is coming off of a road sweep of Sacramento State and Portland State this past week and is the Big Sky's hottest team, winning four straight games.
EWU handed the Hornets their first home loss in league play last Thursday, Feb. 12, forcing Sacramento State into 1-of-7 shooting over the final two minutes en route to a hard-fought comeback. The Eagles secured the Dam Cup trophy with a 77-63 win over Portland State two days later, highlighted by a 20-point, 10-rebound performance from senior Melissa Williams.
Southern Utah (12-10, 5-7 BSC) snapped a five-game losing streak with a home victory over Idaho State on Saturday, Feb. 14. The Thunderbirds are 3-6 away from home so far this season with its last road win coming back on Jan. 15 over the Bengals.
Desiree Jackson (12.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg) is the only Southern Utah player to average double figures. Senior Hailey Mandelko, a First Team All-Big Sky selection last season, was averaging 15.1 points per game before suffering a season-ending injury back on Jan. 3.
Southern Utah leads the all-time series, 6-5. The series is tied at 3-3 in games played at Reese Court, but the Eagles have won the last two meetings in Cheney.
