Atlanta, Ga. – The Eastern Washington University women's basketball program once again finds itself among the nation's elite in the classroom, ranking eighth on the 2015 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, the organization announced Tuesday, July 14.
The Eagles have become regulars on the prestigious list, appearing for the 14th time in program history and 13th time under 14-year head coach Wendy Schuller. This past year's squad had a cumulative team grade point average of 3.554.
EWU, North Dakota and Northern Colorado, who checked in at No. 13 and No. 20, respectively, were the only Big Sky Conference schools in the top 25.
Since the honor roll's founding 20 years ago, Eastern topped the list following the 2003-04 season and ranked second at the end of the 2013-14 season. The Eagles have also ranked third nationally following the 2002-03, 2004-05 and 2005-06 campaigns, respectively.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA; and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPA inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
