Ogden, Utah – Eastern Washington University Women's Basketball redshirt senior Hayley Hodgins has been named to the 2015-16 Preseason All-Big Sky Conference Team, the league office announced Sunday, Oct. 4.
A native of Pasco, Wash., Hodgins averaged a career-best 16.3 points per game a season ago, en route to earning First Team All-Big Sky honors at the end of the year. She was also tabbed an All-Big Sky Tournament pick after averaging 16.0 points per game on 41.9 percent shooting while leading EWU to the semifinal round.
Hodgins scored 538 points last season, tied for the third-most by an Eastern player in the program's 33-year NCAA Division I history. She scored in double-figures in all but four games and became just the third player in head coach Wendy Schuller's 14-year tenure to score at least 30 points in a game, doing so against Wichita State on Nov. 18.
The 2012-13 Big Sky Freshman of the Year, Hodgins' name is already littered throughout Eastern's NCAA Division I record book. Going into her final season, she ranks seventh all-time with 1,185 career points. One of the best shooters to come through Cheney, she ranks fourth all-time in three-pointers made (155) and ninth all-time in field goals made (427). Defensively, she ranks 10th all-time with 128 career steals.
North Dakota's Mia Loyd was named the Preseason Big Sky Player of the Year while Idaho State's Apiphany Wood, Montana State's Jasmine Hommes and Montana's Kayleigh Valley and McCalle Feller join Hodgins on the preseason list.
The Eagles' 2015-16 campaign begins with a home exhibition against Saint Martin's on Friday, Nov. 6.
