Cheney, Wash. - On the heels of a three game winning streak, the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team returns home for games against Abilene Christian on Friday, Dec. 18, and Boise State on Monday, Dec. 21. Both games are set to begin at 6 p.m. PST at Reese Court.
The Eagles (6-4) just finished a close game at Wichita State, pulling ahead 67-62 on Tuesday, Dec. 15. Sophomore Delaney Hodgins recorded her first double-double of the season, scoring 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting and grabbing 12 rebounds, while blocking four shots. Senior Hayley Hodgins led the team in scoring with 23 points and in assists with four. In the 68-57 win against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Dec. 13, Hayley Hodgins had a season high 25 points. Eastern has shot the ball from three extremely well the last two games, posting a percentage of 47.9.
Abilene Christian has a 6-2 record on the season, with its last game being a win against Eastern Michigan 83-59. ACU is a tough match on both sides of the ball, averaging 78.8 points per game, resulting in a +18.5 scoring margin. They match up well to an EWU defense that blocks 5.5 shots per game and has 9.8 steals per game. Leading their team in scoring is junior Alexis Mason, averaging 15 points per game.
