Long Beach, Calif. – Five members of the Eastern Washington University women's soccer program's 2015 recruiting class have been named to TopDrawerSoccer's State All-Star Teams following stellar senior seasons.
Brenna Blaser (Boise, Idaho/Mountain View HS) and Megan Spataro (Olympia, Wash./Olympia HS) were named to their respective state's Fall All-Star Team while Allison Raniere (Tucson, Ariz./Sahuaro HS), Jenny Chavez (Newhall, Calif./William Hart HS) and Maia Inniss (Granada Hills, Calif./Granada Hills HS) were tabbed to their respective state's Winter All-Star Team.
The group of five joins an impressive haul as part of head coach Chad Bodnar's first true recruiting class following his inaugural season at Eastern. All told, Bodnar and his staff received commitments from 14 high school seniors back on National Signing Day back on Feb. 4, and have since added four transfers to the roster.
The Eagles will enter the upcoming season with 13 freshmen, 11 sophomores, four juniors and three seniors, making for one of the youngest squads in the nation.
EWU won eight matches in Bodnar's first season at the helm last year, returning to the Big Sky Conference Tournament for the first time in five seasons. Back from last year's squad are 10 letter winners and five starters, including First Team All-Big Sky honoree sophomore Chloe Williams and Honorable Mention All-Big Sky pick sophomore Savannah Hoekstra.
Eastern kicks off its 2015 campaign with an exhibition match against Gonzaga in Cheney on Friday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
