Eagles Head to Montana for Lone Match of the Week

Cheney, Wash. – After a successful home weekend that extended its winning streak to eight straight games, improved its Big Sky Conference record to 4-0, the Eastern Washington University soccer team will head to Missoula, Mont., this Friday, Oct. 9, to take on Montana. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. PT.

During last week's games against Sacramento State and Portland State, the Eagles came out victorious, finishing on top of each team 3-1 and 1-0, respectively. After the two victories, the Eagles improved their overall season record to 10-1-1. This is the first time in program history that Eastern has recorded ten wins during a single season.

During their match against the Hornets, sophomore Savannah Hoekstra recorded her first two goals of the season, just six minutes apart from each other, sending the Eagles into a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Chloe Williams, currently leading the Eagles in goals, recorded the third goal for the Eagles and her ninth goal of the season. She is currently ranked second overall in the Big Sky Conference for number of goals this season.

During their match against Portland State, senior Tasha Luu zoomed past the Viking defense and shot the ball into the upper seven to score Eastern's lone goal of the match and her second goal of the season. Eastern's defense showed their growing strength and skill during the match, keeping the Vikings from scoring to record their second shutout of the season.

Montana currently holds an overall record of 4-7-2 and a 1-2-1 record in conference play. The last time the Eagles faced Montana the Eagles fell 0-1 to last year's conference champion.
