Cheney, Wash. – Fresh off the release of its 2015 schedule last week, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team has added a home nonconference contest against Corban to its slate of matches for the upcoming season, head coach Wade Benson announced on Monday, May 18.
The Eagles will square off with the Warriors on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. PT. The match will be EWU's first home contest of the season and mark its final nonconference outing before opening Big Sky Conference play the following Thursday against North Dakota at Reese Court.
"Our match against Corban is good to have on the schedule for a couple of reasons," said Benson. "Our first three weeks of the season see us traveling to California, New Orleans and Hawai'i, so it will be nice to get a home match under our belts. It will also allow us to be able to play different combinations to get us prepared for the Big Sky season."
Corban, an NAIA school located in Salem, Ore., finished last season with a 7-19 record and went 3-15 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
Eastern welcomes back eight letter winners and four redshirts from last year's team that went 9-20 overall and 5-11 in league play. The Eagles added six newcomers during the offseason and will see Benson return to the sidelines following a leave of absence during the 2014 campaign.
