Cheney, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University volleyball team will welcome back its former student-athletes for its annual alumni match on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Reese Court.
The friendly scrimmage is set to begin at 1 p.m. PT and is open to the public. Season tickets are available now and can be purchased by visiting GoEags.com/Tickets.
The match will allow Eastern's current squad to gain some valuable in-game experience before it opens its 2015 campaign against Seattle on Friday, Aug. 28, in Berkeley, Calif.
EWU returns eight letter winners from last year's team that finished just outside of the Big Sky Tournament. The Eagles also welcome back head coach Wade Benson, who took a leave of absence during the 2014 season following treatment for throat cancer.
Eastern's roster will be full of youth heading into the upcoming season as 14 of the team's 19 players will be either sophomores or freshmen. EWU's class of six incoming student-athletes includes a graduate transfer from Memphis, one junior college transfer and four high school graduates.
