Cheney, Wash. – After playing its first 10 matches away from Reese Court, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team will conclude nonconference play with its home opener this Thursday night, Sept. 17, versus Corban.
The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. PST.
EWU (4-6), has traveled to the Bay Area, the Big Easy and Aloha State for nonconference matches this season, getting plenty of experience playing in front of hostile crowds and in tough environments. Eastern has had some success against non-league foes this season, winning the New Orleans Invitational earlier this month before taking sets off then-No. 2 Florida and then-No. 16 Hawai'i this past weekend. It has also suffered some growing pains indicative of a young team, dropping three matches in Berkeley, Calif., to start the year.
The Eagles are coming off three matches as part of the Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu, where it faced some of the toughest squads in the nation. Eastern was able to do some good things in stretches, stealing sets from the Gators and the Rainbow Wahine. Senior Allie Scumacher earned all-tournament honors after averaging 2.09 kills per set and 1.73 digs per set.
Corban (3-7) will make its first-ever visit to Reese Court as the two teams have never met prior to Thursday night.
