Ogden, Utah – Eastern Washington University Volleyball senior Allie Schumacher has been tabbed a First Team All-Big Sky Conference selection, the league office announced on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
It is Schumacher's second career yearly league honor, and her first appearance on conference's first team.
Schumacher's First Team All-Big Sky designation also marks the first time since 2011 that EWU has had a player earn first team honors.
The Puyallup, Wash., native finished the regular season with an average of 3.02 kills per set while hitting at a .218 clip as an outside hitter. She also averaged 2.49 digs per set and 0.42 blocks per set.
Schumacher recorded double-digit kills in 12 matches this season and recorded four double-doubles. She led the Eagles in kills in 12 matches and had double-figure digs in nine outings.
Schumacher notched her 1,000th career kill in EWU's match versus Northern Arizona on Nov. 5. She currently ranks 10th all-time on Eastern's NCAA Division I career kills list with 1,002 career kills.
Schumacher's play is one of the main reasons behind what has been one of EWU's most successful seasons over the last few years. Eastern is back in the Big Sky Tournament for the first time in four years and started league play on a seven-match winning streak, the program's best start since 2003.
The Eagles open their stay at the 2015 Big Sky Tournament tomorrow, Nov. 19, when they take on Idaho State in a quarterfinal match at 12 p.m. PST in Flagstaff, Ariz.
